The Integrated Rural Health (IRH) long-term care (LTC) Falls Prevention Working Group is promoting a “Walking to the North Pole Challenge to encourage residents to walk more. Mobility is important for residents’ overall well-being, both physically and mentally.
What is the Walking to the North Pole Challenge?
A challenge to get residents up and moving every day by either walking or mobilizing in a wheelchair. Each home will walk to the North Pole and celebrate with a party in December.
What homes are participating in this challenge?
We are encouraging every Integrated Rural Health Long Term Care home to participate in this challenge.
When is it?
The challenge will run from October to December 2024.
Who can participate in the challenge?
Any resident that walks independently, walks with staff assistance or mobilizes in a wheelchair.
How long will it take YOU to walk to the North Pole?
